Friday Favs- a little of this and a little of that

This week we made some major success in cooking. On the other hand we are tackling a little guy who is sitting up in his crib and needing a good amount of coaxing to fall asleep at night and naps.  I’m calling it these are the days of our lives and we’ll just roll along with it… Here are our favs:

1. We tried our hand at making Barefoot Contessa’s Corn Chowder one night this week. We used fresh sweet corn and little potatoes from the farmers market. We both really liked this and also it should be noted that we halved the recipe and we still had plenty of leftovers.

2. Another night we made Skinny Taste Grilled Balsamic Steak Salads. This one has potential but I feel like the steak marinade could use some more ingredients. It lacked some flavor… Also it calls for arugula which is what we used but next time I might use butter lettuce or romaine… Neither of us are huge fans of arugula.

3. As far as other favs this week goes I am a bit lacking…I expect I will have more to share next week so I’ll leave you with some snaps of the little guy from this week.

Someone 💚s Lima beans. (Also known as butter beans with our family.)

Look who decided to start standing in the pack n play.

One of our favorites is still the ball pit. Little guy is really enjoying throwing the balls out of put these days.

Happy Weekend!

Friday Favs- on the go

August has been a whirlwind….This week I thought it might slow down but I completely forgot that we had an event for little guys school (he’ll be starting in October 🙂). Also we are going to Justin’s family’s cabin today…needless to say cooking was a hodgepodge this week that consisted of rotisserie chicken and our love for Trader Joe’s frozen rice and my favorite black beans… Honestly I don’t know when I will get sick of that… It’s sooo easy and I really enjoy it every time we make it…

Here are some great photos from our week.

Little guy is moving a ton more… He loves to cruise around with his alligator walker or he scoots on his tush… He is quite motivated lately… When no one is watching he tries to  scoot over to Leo’s water bowl.

Next week I have plans to cook, go for more walks, and try and organize little guys closet. I will definitely have a ton more to share next week.

Hope your weekend is filled with s’mores 🍫, cozy sweatshirts , and cabin time.

Friday Favs- Seattle Edition

Last weekend we travelled to San Juan Island which is outside of Seattle. My little brother got married and we extended our trip a bit so we could spend time with our family that lives there. The trip to the island was quite an experience for Justin, little guy, and me. We made it there thanks to lots of help from Justin’s parents who came with us. On Friday morning we woke up at 4 am and had a direct flight to Seattle. Next we rented a car and drove an hour and a half to the ferry. Then we took an hour ferry. After that we had a 20 minute car ride to the hotel. It was a long day but totally worth it. It was a great weekend and I could not be happier to have Anna as a part of our family.

Here are some snaps from the wedding:

Little guy had to watch the wedding from outside the gate. He was feeling pretty chatty and making all his minion noises. 😊

We got back to Seattle on Sunday afternoon. We went to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Gallery. This place has got to be part of my top 5 favorite things to do in Seattle. This was my second time to be here and little guys first trip. I think he might of enjoyed it just as much as me.

We got back to Minnesota on Wednesday night. My cousin, Paige flew back with us and is visiting till Monday.  I was able to convince her to go to little guys music class on Thursday morning. Afterwards we went to a true Minnesota establishment, Matt’s Bar for lunch. People know it as the home of the jucy  Lucy (that is not a typo they really do spell juicy as jucy on the menu). Paige enjoyed her first jucy Lucy  and little guy had a grilled cheese because I thought it’s probably not wise to get a 1 year old a burger filled with molten cheese. He’ll have to wait till he is a little older.

Hope your weekend is full  of trips to farmers markets,  dips in the pool, and walks around the lake. I’m planning on all 3.

Friday Favs- celebrations

It’s safe to say right now that I am embracing some organized chaos right now. We are in planning mode and leaving today to celebrate Anna and Josh getting married. We have lists upon lists and bags in bags and we are trying to be prepared for whatever might be thrown our way (  blow outs on airplanes…. Been there done that, hangry child… No worries we got quite a lot of snack bags)

Friday Favs this week are about   little guy and Justin giving me quite a great birthday on Monday. Also my mom took me to Saint Dinette for brunch last weekend and omg delish doesn’t even begin to describe the pictures I am posting. I’m going to give you a much better in depth Friday Favs next week when we are back in town but for now I leave you with some pictures from this past week.

First bite of cookie cake and definitely not his last… My husband rocks and drove some distance to get me cookie cake for my birthday.

The smile says it all… He loves sugar as much if not more than his mama.

2 pictures above are from brunch at Saint Dinette…  Oh chilaquiles… I will ever back for that and the collards 💚
Hope your weekend rocks! ( I can’t believe my little brother is  getting married.😅.. Can’t wait to watch the little guy dance with him at the reception 😊)
