We are going to a friends house for Halloween. I asked her what I could bring and she said she really didn’t need anything. I really didn’t want to show up empty handed and… while I was watching The Kitchen (food network show) that I dvred (yes, I made that a verb.) I saw that Marcela made Mummy covered Coke bottles. They didn’t look hard and they were a tad crafty so I knew I had to do it. I made 2 stops for this craft: Hyvee and Michaels. Not too hard to make and the end result is quite spooky cute I must say. Here is what you need.
12 glass sodas
1 spool of tulle
12 white pieces of tissue paper
24 googly eyes
1 hot glue gun
I wrapped each bottle in tissue paper and next in tulle. I was able to tuck the end of each piece of tulle into a previous piece I had wrapped. I finished by carefully hot gluing the eyes on.
Happy Halloween 🎃
I’m sitting in Starbucks in the Mirage writing this post. I’m sipping a chai tea latte and contemplating the idea of stealing the chair at the table next to me to elevate my feet. Justin and I are leaving Vegas tonight. In 3 hours we are going to the Cirque Love show and after that the airport. We will land in the Twin Cities tomorrow morning.
We have had a great trip. I will tell you leaving our 4 month old little man was one of the hardest things I have done. Thank goodness my husband is so amazing at comforting me. I cried when we walked into the airport, when we got to the terminal, when we boarded the plane and when we got to Vegas. The next morning I felt a ton better but I will tell all my pals be prepared for the waterworks the first time you leave your little one. I have no doubts our little man is in great hands with his grandparents but the separation you feel is very hard.
Here are a couple things we would recommend from our trip.
- Yardbird Restaurant(in the Venetian)-Get the fried chicken, mac & cheese, grits, and biscuits. We heard the fried green tomatoes were good but didn’t try them.
- Bellagio Conservatory– It’s FREE! We enjoyed walking around and looking at how creative they were using flowers. Also the ceiling in the Bellagio entrance is a Chihuly installation and is definitely worth a look.
- The fountain outside of the Bellagio– another FREE experience that we loved. We watched it a couple of times. They choreograph to music and use different songs at different times of the day. It only lasts a couple of minutes.
These are a couple of highlights. Neither of us won big at the casinos and we would not be the ones to ask about partying but we found our Vegas vacation to be the perfect retreat for us.
Nordstrom opened its second location in Minnesota today and it’s a 12 minute drive my house. It’s truly exciting for me and extremely terrifying for my husband. My best pal, Galina and her baby went with Ross and me this morning. We were the 4th and 5th people to walk through the doors and you know what the best part was? The employees were lined up clapping for us as we walked in. I know… I’m crazy but we had fun!
Ross got fitted for baby uggs. They are sooo adorable but no, I didn’t buy them… Somehow I restrained myself from this purchase. I did grab a super comfy Zela sweatshirt.
Lots of love,
